Dale’s Foods began with Dale’s Southern Grill in 2003. My goal was simple: to create a restaurant that embodied true Southern food, hospitality, and warmth. It was also a way to share my passion for cooking and the dishes my family loved. Just like at home, our Carrot Soufflé and Summer Squash Casserole became instant customer favorites, with guests ordering them to take home for holiday dinners and family gatherings.
Then came 2020. Like so many others, we had to shut down. Determined to keep our team working, I looked for a way to adapt. When grocery stores started struggling with supply shortages, I realized we could bring our beloved casseroles to them—offering not just food, but comfort and togetherness during uncertain times.
My son David jumped in to help. Every day, he loaded our catering vans with frozen casseroles and went door-to-door, selling them to grocery stores from Birmingham to Mobile. Demand skyrocketed, and as a small family-owned business, we had to learn fast how to keep up! That’s when Piggly Wiggly stepped in. Recognizing the growing demand, they helped us expand across seven states through their distribution network—allowing us to bring our Southern favorites to even more families.
Life has a way of surprising you. What started as a challenge became an incredible opportunity, turning uncertainty into growth. Today, we’re still cooking with the same care and tradition, proud to share our family’s recipes with yours. So next time you’re at the store, look for Dale’s Food in the freezer section and grab one (or all!) of our delicious Southern sides. They’re made with love and tradition in every bite!
From our kitchen to yours—we invite you to be a part of the Dale’s Foods story.
